This release of cover songs from Oscar Peterson, recorded and released in , features his trio of the era, Ray Brown on double bass and drummer Ed Thigpen. Reissue release from the much-recorded Oscar Peterson. Although the pianist is virtually always the lead voice, Brown and Thigpen both make strong (if subtle) contributions to the music.

Peterson, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Ed Thigpen, clearly enjoy a strong rapport, and the trio never fails to swing.

A tremendous little record, Bursting Out has Oscar Peterson really pushing the fuller, stronger sound he started with his trio of Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen – a set that features additional backings by Ernie Wilkins behind the core sound of the piano combo!
