It does an excellent job of bridging the transition from the dark sombient music of the preceding "The Throne of Drones" to the more adventurous acousmatic material of the final volume, "Storm of Drones". A quick glance at the contributors to this 2-CD set gives some 3/5(4).

Apr 26,  · Now, onto this CD. When it comes to making compilations that cover various artists, not everybody is going to be satisfied. However, this CD comes closest to being the go-to CD for classic rock fans. This CD has a wide range of the genre, from the '60s psychodelic rock, all /5().

Mar 08,  · Much prefer this sampler to the first one. This has that gritty country blues feel with many songs feeling like they were recorded in a leaky basement(and many were). Standouts are the two RL Burnside tracks: "Goin down South" is a staple of his music and the version included of "Walkin Blues" is /5(10).

" In a market crowded with me-too jungle and hip-hop CDs, sound developer Ernest Cholakis has come up with something as original as it is useful: a whole CD of electronic drone tones Ambient artists will be in hog heaven, and the drones should work well for those ominous breaks in industrial rock, too - or even in acid and drum 'n' bass.

Beginning with issue #4, the magazine included a sampler CD. Most of these CDs were compiled by a label for the magazine, but some samplers were included without the SOD logo. Issue #4 included the Various - Earache New Release Sampler. Issue #15 included the Various - Earache Wicked World Sampler Issue #22 included Various - Global Missing: Data Drone.
